Brian and his wife Sheila are now retired at their Cornish smallholding and have worked hard to ensure that the area is a haven for wildlife. Having turned what was just a paddock for grazing horses into a two acre woodland, planted with a wide variety of trees and shrubs to provide food and habitat for various forms of wildlife, plus ponds which attract a host of invertebrates, adding to the sustainability of the whole environment. They have seen an area of barren grass become home to hundreds of birds, and a wide variety of animal and insect life. It’s an absolute pleasure to watch them come and go and observe the cycle of life which now populates the area.
Having built their own eco-friendly home, in timber and straw bales, next to the woods, the wildlife is now right on their doorstep and they hope to be able to share these pleasures with others who may not be as fortunate.
